GENAU NOW means now now. The name inverts the South African expression, which in practice signals an open, indefinite timeframe: not yet, but soon, maybe, maybe never.

GENAU NOW started with a proposal to strangers at a bus stop in Bern: “Who would like to join a band? GENAU NOW!”

Three encounters in a week became its foundation. A 30-minute improvisation with jazz musician Clemens Kuratle, constrained by a departure flight, urgency as compositional condition. A session with musicians from the Swiss Mechatronic Art Society. An unplanned last-night meeting with Lucy Kivmatova and Hannah Billich that lasted several hours and produced the band 4 Humans and 80 Cows.

The encounter only has value if acted upon with immediacy.
